JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21663 JOB DUTIES: UW SYSTEM OFFICIAL TITLE: Police Officer I POSTING DATE: March 7, 2025 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position reports to the Police Lieutenant and enforces laws and regulations, investigates complaints and incidents, maintains order, identifies criminal activity, and apprehends and arrests offenders to ensure safety and security on all institutional properties and serve as a visible presence to prevent and deter criminal activity. This is a sworn law enforcement position under the general direction of a ranking officer or supervisor. This position includes the following responsibilities: Provides for the protection of life, property, the preservation of peace and good order, and provides emergency aid to the institutional community and area of legal jurisdiction Performs preliminary and prompt follow-up investigations to solve crimes, identify suspects and victims, apprehend criminals, and thoroughly document incident information Ensures the safe and orderly flow of traffic on institutional roadways, enforcement of traffic and parking laws or regulations, including the routine enforcement of parking regulations Provides personal safety and crime prevention education to institutional community Engages in problem-solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution for a wide range of issues and incidents involving citizens, groups, campus entities, government agencies, businesses, leaders, and others In addition to individual efforts, appropriately engages co-workers and other members of the institutional community in a collaborative team effort to meet job functions and responsibilities SPECIAL NOTES: Position is a full-time University Staff appointment.
