System One is currently seeking a Traffic Specialist on a 12 month contract position located in Calera, AL.

Traffic Specialist Responsibilities:

• Audit and process freight invoices for Company Business Units, communicate with Freight Carriers.

• Communicate with internal business partners.

• Create and maintain reports.

• Order Department of Transportation permits.

• Field calls from vendors and the vendor line.

• Provides logistical support to all Company system wide business units.

• Required to make timely and critical business decisions regarding the best mode of transportation of materials and equipment in routine situations, during planned and forced outages & emergency storm restoration efforts.

• Requires extensive knowledge of carriers, Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules & regulations and utility material and equipment.

• Required to be on call and work in shifts to support outages & storm restoration efforts.

• Assist internal customers with transportation needs.

• Resolve logistical issues & provide logistics solutions.

• Build strong relationships with carriers, suppliers & internal customers.

• Maintain knowledge of DOT rules & regulations.

• Ensure timely deliveries of materials & equipment in both routine and emergency situations.

• Review freight invoices to insure accuracy.

• Negotiate freight contracts.

  Traffic Specialist Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain is preferred.

• Prior experience in transportation services field

• Experience in all aspects of transportation including LTL, Truck Load, Parcel, Hotshot, Dedicated & Air.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office computer products.

• General knowledge of logistics to efficiently and effectively route materials and equipment in routine & emergency situations.

• Knowledge of carriers, NMFC Classifications, DOT regulations including Hazmat Qualifications.

• Knowledge of air freight, truck, hotshot, OS/OW regulations & International freight requirements.

• Knowledge of contractual agreements with carriers to maximize freight savings.

• Knowledge of T&D and Power Generation materials & equipment.

• Knowledge and understanding of the NMFC Classification Guide.

• Knowledge and understanding of DOT Regulations pertaining to transporting of Hazardous Material.
