PROJECT DIRECTOR

Department of Fleet and Facility Management

Bureau of Architecture, Engineering and Construction

Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $118,128-$133,524/year

The City of Chicago is seeking a Project Director to manage the planning, design and administration of capital and public works projects in a high-paced environment, and performs related duties as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Work will span across multiple tasks at a time – one will manage and keep track of several tasks simultaneously and needs to maintain balance of several tasks at time

• Oversees and manages staff working on capital improvements to deliver projects on time and within budget

• Monitors project progress and assists staff with resolving project related issues

• Reports to Deputy on any pressing matters

• Monitors budget funding streams, and provides quality control and assurance for project reporting

Additional duties may be required for this position

Location: 2 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60602

Days: Monday-Friday

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (at times will be required to work outside of normal business hours)*

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Construction Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning or a directly related degree, plus five years of experience in the planning, design and construction of public works projects of which three years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, provided the minimum degree requirement is met

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

Preference will be given to applicants with a professional architecture or engineering license*
