Purpose

Assist in leading the day-to-day Acquisition Accounting function.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.

  • Provide oversight and direction for one or more specific business processes or functions.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Assist in development, analysis, and communication of internal monthly financial statements on a timely basis.

  • Identify, research and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issues.

  • Assist with special projects related to acquisitions as well as process improvements for the financial operations of the company.

Do the Work

  • Oversee the activities of the corporate acquisition accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements and annual audits.

  • Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports.

  • Works with external auditors during reviews and audits to manage acquisition accounting staff and compliance with all qualified requests in a timely manner.

  • Assist with acquisition financial audit preparation including quarterly reviews, annual financial statement audit, and other audits as required.

  • Develop and analyze acquisition internal monthly financial statements and year-end audited acquisition financial statements.

  • Assist with acquisition quarterly financial statement reporting as required.

  • Research and apply technical accounting to ensure GAAP compliance for unique accounting transactions.

  • Identify, research, and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issues.

  • Assist with the development, implementation of and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.

  • Develop, manage, recognize and reward a motivated team of accountants.

  • Assist Director of M&A Accounting with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Acquisition Accounting team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.

  • CPA strongly preferred.

  • Three or more (3+) years of management experience, to include managing the month-end close.

  • Accounts Payable full cycle exposure.

  • Five or more (5+) years of corporate accounting experience.

  • Previous experience of public accounting and compliance strongly preferred.

  • Prior professional services and percentage completion accounting experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP.

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills preferred.

  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision preferred.

  • Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Mobility around an office environment.

  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
