Duties and Responsibilities

The Sergeant will conduct daily briefings, evaluate situations and deploy manpower in an appropriate manner. He/she will prepare and review reports on operations and activities; will provide support for officers who are answering calls relative to crimes, accidents, disturbances; will review officer’s reports for thoroughness and accuracy; will conduct preliminary reports as necessary; additionally, will protect crime scenes and preserve physical evidence as needed. The Sergeant will provide general assistance and information to students, faculty and staff.

-Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

High school diploma or GED and 400 or more hours of certified police academy training from a recognized State of Illinois training facility. At least three years of experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department.

Qualifications

This position requires objectivity, as well as the ability to give and receive feedback. Confidentiality in all matters is imperative. The qualified candidate will have experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department. This position also requires good verbal and written communication skills.
