Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience, and a competitive fringe benefits package is offered. This position is not eligible for VISA or STEM sponsorship. Responsibilities The HSSE Department seeks a tenure-track faculty candidate who will carry a full-time load of twelve credits per semester. The candidate will teach courses in English, American Literature, World Literature, and English Education methods. Along with classroom instruction expectations, the successful candidate will: advise students participate in recruitment and retention efforts engage in department and campus service activities enhance programs and student experiences help expand our network within the field to benefit our programs, student experience, and student employment opportunities provide service to the unit, department, and university work collaboratively with faculty colleagues A tenure-track appointment carries a 24.0 credit hour workload per academic year, distributed over the fall and spring semesters. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Doctoral level degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in English, Literature, or related field from a regionally accredited university, completed by the start of contract. Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering social justice. Knowledge and experience with program assessment. Passion for teaching and student-centered service. Ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences. Effective communication skills. Ability to deliver effective teaching in both the on campus and online environments. Ability to demonstrate cultural competency Commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of a modern land grant mission. Preferred Qualifications A scholarly research agenda that advances the field, including research and publication. Experience teaching online courses. Experience mentoring student teachers placed in K-12 school settings. 18 graduate credits in communication arts and literature education courses. Three years of experience as middle school or high school teacher of record.
