Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer Professional Entry Level for the Houston, TX office.
Responsibilities:
Provide field oversight and quality assurance during foundation constructions. Performing field work as a technician or technical consultant. Document controls, construction management, or other construction-related field. As a geotechnical engineer, field assignments will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing). Installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring. Inspection and construction of geotechnical structures (earth retaining structures, deep foundations, dams, tunnels, and shallow foundations). Design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, embankments, cut slopes, and other geotechnical structures. Preparing engineering reports, design drawings and construction specifications.
TRAVEL: 20% domestic travel with the field crew during subsurface explorations such as soil borings and in-situ tests. Travel to the construction sites to observe construction activities related to foundations, ground improvements, etc.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geology, or closely related field and 1 year of work experience as a Geotechnical Engineer in consulting or a closely related occupation
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of: Field experience with soil borings, soil sampling and soil logging. Geotechnical exploration report and foundation design report. Use computer programs including gINT, Openground, Google Earth, and ArcGIS.
