This Position is for an Instructor in Composition and Rhetoric (Developmental Reading and Writing) with a public university work location in University, MS.
Position Description
The Department of Writing & Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi seeks applicants for an Instructor of Composition and Rhetoric with an emphasis on teaching developmental reading and writing. This 9-month teaching position carries a 4/4, or equivalent, teaching load, service responsibilities, and starts August 21, 2025. This is a renewable position with benefits. Instructors are non-tenure track faculty with opportunities for promotion to Lecturer and Senior Lecturer as defined by the department's Instructor Promotion Policy. Experience teaching Developmental reading or the equivalent is preferred. Welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
Applicants must have completed a master's degree in composition, rhetoric, or a related field by the hiring date.
Job Responsibilities:
Teaching undergraduate courses, primarily developmental reading and writing, but also could include teaching Writing 101 and Writing 102;
Serving on various Department committees;
Participating in the ongoing evaluation and revision of curricula to emphasize multimodal composition and a culture of reflection;
Coordinating pedagogy with active and growing writing centers;
Contributing to distributed assignment, course, and program assessments;

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in composition, rhetoric, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge or degree focus in developmental reading, basic writing, developmental studies, or the equivalent
Teaching experience in a Corequisite program
