TITLE: Kitchen Manager
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrates aptitude or competence
for assigned responsibilities.
2. Such alternatives to the above
qualifications as the Board may find
appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director and Principal
SUPERVISES: All Kitchen Staff
JOB GOAL: To ensure smooth and efficient operation of
the school cafeteria and to also ensure an
atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and
friendliness in which students may be served
nutritious meals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, supervises, and participates in the preparation and serving of all food in the
cafeteria. Understands and follows standardized recipes and portion control.
2. Assumes responsibility for the security of food and supplies.
3. Supervises the storage and care of food and supplies.
4. Assumes responsibility for the ticket sales, recording of sales on the cash
reconciliation form, ala carte cash records, deposits and security of revenue from
cafeteria services until it has been turned over to the proper authorities. (KHS and
KMS).
5. Develops menus with the approval of the food service director. (KHS and KMS)
6. Sees that menus are followed according to instructions set by the food service director
using the federal regulations.
7. Understands and is capable of using all equipment.
8. Has orders complete and on time.
9. Oversees and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage areas, and
dining area when applicable.
10. Reviews and signs employee\'s time sheets and absence reports.
11. Assigns, directs, plans and supervises the work of cafeteria employees, planning work
schedules to insure efficient operations. Any increase in time must be approved by the
Food Service Director. Has the ability to supervise and communicate effectively.
12. Instructs new cafeteria employees in performing their assigned tasks. Calls substitutes
when needed.
13. Evaluates the performance of all kitchen staff.
14. Understands and oversees the safety and sanitation procedures concerning kitchen,
utensils, equipment, and staff.
15. Assumes responsibility for checking that all equipment in the kitchen is in safe
working condition, and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs are needed.
16. Maintains accurate records on productions, Fs-4\'s, and meal counts to meet USDA
requirements.
17. Provides a positive working atmosphere and encourages positive attitudes among
food service staff.
18. Understands the philosophy, policies and regulations of the food service program and
follows them.
19. Understands and promotes good nutrition.
20. Follows directives and assignments of the food service director or building principal
for a smooth and efficient operation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position shall be considered in all respects
\"employment at will.\" The employment period and
other descriptions shall not create a property right in
the employee and such are set forth only to advise
the employee of when and what type of services
will be required by the District as long as the
employment continues.
An employee working in this position shall at all
times be subject to the direction of the person to
whom said employee has primary responsibility or
said person\'s designee. At all times the employee
shall be subject to the rules, regulations, and
policies of the district as promulgated by the Board
of Trustees. Each employee shall be held
responsible for having knowledge of said school
district rules, regulations, and policies which have
been reduced to writing and make available to the
employee at each individual school and in the
central office.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated
yearly by the Food Service Director or a designee in
conformance with the district policy relating to
evaluation of classified employees.
