JOB REQUIREMENTS: Official Title: Police Officer I Business Title: Police Officer Employment Class: University Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: \$26.00 - 35.50 per hour (certifiable - may be eligible for future step increases)* or \$23.00 per hour (non-certifiable - may be eligible for future step increases) *Applicants with previous certified sworn law enforcement experience may qualify for lateral transfer, progressing to the pay step that coincides with 75% of their recognized experience. FLSA Status: Non-exempt Terms of Employment: Continuous Position Summary: Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant, the UW Oshkosh Police Officer serves 10,000+ students, and over 1,000 employees, encompassing 58 buildings on 184 acres. Police Officers exercise full statutory arrest authority and are responsible for the enforcement of state laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the protection of life and property, and related protective services for the University community. The standard work hours are 10-hour shift assignments on one of the following shifts: 8:00am-6:00pm, 6:00pm-4:00am, and 10:00pm-8:00am. The Police Officer is a sworn law enforcement position (State of WI, LESB certified) responsible for providing a full range of law enforcement services: enforcing laws, investigating complaints, investigating incidents which may have an impact on the University, maintaining order, assisting people, identifying criminal activity, apprehending and arresting offenders, identifying the source of problems in the community, and working with the community to resolve issues.
