Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to work onsite, repairing wiring, fixtures, and electrical components on board ships and vessels.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain shipboard wiring and electrical components.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with shipboard electronic and electrical systems and equipment.

• Interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings.

• Utilize technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, and motorized valve actuators.

• Disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble, and test electrical equipment.

• Work with electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and controls.

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions, and manuals.

• Plan and create working diagrams and circuits.

• Fabricate cable runs and wireways.

Essential Skills

• 3 years of experience as a marine electrician.

• Experience with conduit, voltmeter, ohmmeter, phase-rotation, overhead crane, connection boxes, circuit breakers, switch panels, and cutting torch.

• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose shipboard electronic and electrical systems.

• Understanding of electrical schematics and installation drawings.

• Knowledge of electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and controls.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions, and manuals.

• Capability to plan and create working diagrams and circuits.

• Experience in cable run fabrication and wireway fabrication.

Work Environment

The work schedule includes a day shift from 6am to 2:30pm and a night shift from 6pm to 3am. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with a total of 50 hours, and occasional 8-hour shifts on Saturdays if the project requires it.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.75 - $26.78/hr.
