Hatchery Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance, repair, construction, and modification of industrial machinery, including electrical components, throughout the hatchery. Assists supervisor in overseeing hatchery maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hatchery production areas to ensure proper functioning of assigned equipment and intervene for repairs as necessary.

• Utilize all manner of hand and power tools to diagnose, adjust, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

• Review work orders to ensure accuracy and maintain documentation of work performed.

• Assist with installation of new equipment or modify existing equipment as required.

• Provide training to peers as requested or needed by maintenance lead, supervisor, or training department.

• Make suggestions for correctible measures when downtime results from mechanical or technical defects.

• Attend maintenance meetings and trainings as required.

• Identify opportunities for improvement and give feedback to supervisor about cost reduction, quality improvement, and yield control.

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 6 months industrial maintenance experience.

• Experience utilizing hand and power tools of all varieties.

• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure and industrial blueprints.

• Basic knowledge and safety understanding of electrical components.

• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and calculating percentages.

• Proficiency in using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Ability to work in a refrigerated environment ranging from 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.

• Effective communication skills with all plant employees, third party vendors, and contractors.

• Ability to operate a forklift, scissors lift, or other powered equipment or machinery as needed.

• Ability to work both in a group and autonomously with limited supervision.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

• Ability to pass a required physical and demonstrate the ability to lift the required weight for the position.

• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire 8-hour shift.

• Consistent adherence to safe working habits and compliance with all safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Mechatronics, Electrical, Welding, or similar fields preferred.

• Experience working with VFD's (Variable Frequency Drive) or robotics preferred.

• Welding experience preferred.

• Knowledge of water/boiler systems preferred.

Work Environment

Working in a hatchery with baby chickens all over. Duties include maintenance, cleaning, and other tasks.

The schedule is 2 days on, 2 days off, and 3 days on. 6pm - 6:30am

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Fremont, Nebraska.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
