Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

Assemblers will join a team of assemblers, inspectors, and deburr operators to ensure that products are built and finished correctly. As an assembler, you will follow written work instruction manuals to sub-assemble and assemble aerospace parts. You will use glues, bonding agents, rivet guns, lubricants, small manual presses, and other hand tools to build products. Your role includes installing pins, inserts, honing products to size, grit blasting, and more. You will also use work instructions to interpret tolerance and use quality tools like calipers, gauges, and micrometers to ensure precision and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Follow written work instruction manuals to sub-assemble and assemble aerospace parts.

  • Use glues, bonding agents, rivet guns, lubricants, small manual presses, and other hand tools.

  • Install pins, inserts, hone products to size, and perform grit blasting.

  • Use quality tools like calipers, gauges, and micrometers to ensure precision.

  • Document every step of the assembly process with utmost quality.

  • Work with small parts, requiring hand dexterity and attention to detail.

  • Cross-train in other areas to cover for absences over time.

Essential Skills

  • Proven assembly experience in the manufacturing industry.

  • Detail-oriented with good mechanical aptitude.

  • Experience interpreting drawings and/or written work instructions.

  • Proficiency in inspection equipment such as depth micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.

  • Basic skills in mathematics and geometry.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Availability to work overtime, including Saturdays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC or manual machines such as lathes and mills (recommended, not required).

  • Experience with deburring.

Work Environment

The work environment is a traditional machine shop and assembly operation with over 100 CNC machines. The assembly area resembles a job shop and is climate-controlled and bright, with a moderate level of organization. The machine shop is a bit dirtier, and assemblers will spend time in both areas. The shift is 1st shift Monday to Friday (7 am - 3:30 pm) with heavy overtime. Currently, employees work every Saturday and many work until 4:30-5 pm Monday to Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
