This position directs and manages day-to-day operations and functions and makes decisions related to resource acquisition, allocation, and expenditures for the Metro District Construction, Materials, and Surveys units. The position also serves as part of the Metro District management team and participates in developing and implementing office, division, and department strategies to support MnDOT’s Strategic Plan.
This position is housed at the Golden Valley, MN Construction office. The incumbent will have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule. The incumbent will be required to report onsite at least twice/week but may be required to work onsite more depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.
Five years professional engineering experience (post registration) with three years at the Principal Engineer or equivalent level.
Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience in construction administration concepts, techniques, operations, methods, materials and equipment.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a variety of functions, lead and motivate others who do not report directly in developing and completing projects/programs and maintain a strong team environment; ability to enhance trust through transparency and accountability; ability to develop and implement innovative solutions and lead change.
Technical: Broad experience in engineering including an understanding of construction administration, surveying, design, specifications, pavement engineering, drainage, contracts, traffic operations, land acquisition and environmental engineering.
Fiscal Management: Experience managing large, complex budgets and allocating resources.
Communications/Human Relations: Excellent oral and written communication skills to successfully interact and create strong relations with management, internal and external stakeholders, industry, and contractors; strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
