| Physical Requirements | The essential job functions of this position require you to: communicate and build working relationships with staff, faculty, alumni, equine industry stakeholders and other individuals from diverse backgrounds; abide by university guidelines and best practices; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and manage work effectively; positively represent the university; report to meetings at different locations both on campus and off campus, as well as work successfully in a team and independently. This position will also require travel throughout the United States and possibly international travel. |

| Job Summary | The Equine Philanthropy Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects for major gifts to the Gluck Equine Research Center/Department of Veterinary Science, UK Ag Equine Programs and all equine-related priorities throughout the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Under the Direction of Senior Director of MG-CAFE, this position will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and lead efforts to maximize philanthropic support. Strategic leadership and communications are a must to ensure the priorities of the Gluck Equine Foundation Board of Directors, the Equine Programs Advisory Board, and all equine-related initiatives are understood and actively pursued. This includes engaging in regular communication with all constituents, building strong relationships with prospects, and enthusiastically cultivating new fundraising opportunities. The Director will serve as a liaison between the University and both the Equine Programs and Gluck Foundation boards. In addition, this position will oversee duties of Foundation management including board communications and document preparations, managing the Foundation budget and maintaining historical records. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | At least five years of fundraising experience associated with a non-profit organization, a university, or equine/agriculture-related organization. We are seeking an individual with outstanding interpersonal communication skills, and a passion for agriculture and/ or equine. The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and professional expertise to communicate effectively within the university environment, with stakeholders, and with Kentucky citizens. |
