Job Title: Sr Accountant need in Miami FL! This is a 3 days on site and 2 days remote role working with a large cruise line. This is an URGENT need and will move quickly!
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sr Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and performing variance analysis. Additionally, the role involves supporting audit requests, managing a team of six employees, and assisting with ongoing projects.
Responsibilities
Manage the month-end close process, including communicating deadlines to finance and accounting teams.
Review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Perform variance analysis and review month-over-month balance sheet and profit/loss explanations.
Ensure all aspects of the monthly close process are completed on a timely basis.
Review and validate consolidated financial statements.
Analyze variances and trends in financial reporting packages and monthly results, providing explanations to management.
Evaluate and review key policies, procedures, and internal controls, assisting with testing for the Internal Control Assessment under Sarbanes-Oxley.
Ensure internal and external audit requirements and deliverables related to Operations Accounting are met.
Understand operational systems and assist in the continual development and improvement of entry recording.
Manage, train, and develop a team of six employees.
Attend monthly close meetings, answer questions about financial statements, provide commentary, variance explanations, and ad hoc reports and analysis.
Assist with ongoing projects as needed (30-40% of the role).
Essential Skills
8-10 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials.
Strong understanding and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and work extra hours during month-end close and as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
CPA preferred but not required.
Preferred degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Business.
Master’s/MBA degree a plus.
5-7 years of accounting experience.
Combined experience in public accounting and the private sector a plus.
Experience in the cruise industry a plus.
Experience with large company ERP systems a plus.
Work Environment
You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment where attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with PeopleSoft software. You may be required to work extra hours during month-end close and as needed. The dress code is business casual.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
