They collaborate with senior academic and administrative leadership to support Villanova's mission, cultivate and sustain cooperative working relationships throughout the institution. The Director supports the AVP Engineering, Design and Construction, to deliver capital project services from initiation through turnover.

Coordinate with the Director of Engineering and Energy management, the Director of Maintenance Services and the Director of Grounds to provide proper interface between the Office of Project Management and the other Facilities Management Department functions. Interface with the Director of Finance to provide regular accurate accounting of the project costsProvide direction to project managers who lead teams of consultant architects and engineers, construction managers, contractors, O&M personnel and contracting specialists.Ensure all aspects of project management are effectively implemented and accomplished -- such as project approvals from appropriate government agencies and community interest groups; adherence to established project budgets and schedules; schematic design reviews, onsite inspections to evaluate contractor performance, confirmations of satisfactory progression of work, and assurance that change order management validates scope of work, justification and pricing.Monitor work of the unit and takes appropriate steps to ensure that activities meet requirements.Work collaboratively across the university to ensure that design standards, project goals and the University mission are documented, reviewed and achieved.Maintain records of work accomplished, including a photographic record of all major work progress. Maintain a record of consultant's, contractor's and vendor's performance. Maintain and update budgets and schedules for projects. Work closely with project managers and the director of Finance and administration to ensure that project financial information and projections are timely and accurate.Recommend approval/disapproval of change orders and processes contractors' and vendors' invoices, insurance certificates, etc. associated with design and construction contract management.Keeps informed and up to date with codes and ordinances to assure project compliance, including management of the efforts required to obtain certificates of occupancy.Assists the AVP in the preparation of the annual Capital Renewal Plan and Budget and presentations to BOT and LeadershipPerform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required of personnel so classifiedB.S. required in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, construction man gement or Architecture or similar degree. Commensurate experience of 15 years or more may substitute for a technical degree. PE License or RA License desired. Minimum of ten 7 years' experience in planning, estimating, and supervising of new building construction and renovation activities. Extensive knowledge of construction practices, materials and techniques including building envelope, structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and Life-Safety systems.Strong background in construction contract administration.Superior communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with university staff administrative, faculty and staff clients, vendors, contractors, and with the local township and other regulatory authorities.Working knowledge of CAD, computer scheduling i.e. MS Project or Primavera, spreadsheet programs preferably MS Excel, database programs, BlueBeam Revu, and PowerPoint at a minimum.Exposure to noise, confined spaces, dust, dirt, and the outdoor elements. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach and to lift up to 60 pounds.
