Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP of Accounting to join our team in Reston, Virginia. This role involves managing all aspects of our accounting operations, including overseeing SEC reporting, leading the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with audit and SOX requirements. The successful candidate will also play a critical role in a new ERP implementation.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the day-to-day accounting functions, such as general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions.
• Oversee the transition from QuickBooks Enterprise, ensuring seamless implementation, optimization, and training.
• Prepare timely and accurate SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.
• Collaborate with auditors to complete public company audits, ensuring SOX compliance and addressing internal control risks effectively.
• Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment in line with SOX requirements, including risk assessments, control matrix creation, and key process documentation.
• Coordinate a timely and accurate month-end close process, liaising with various internal stakeholders and adhering to deadlines.
• Support future M& A activities, including financial due diligence and integration efforts as needed.
• Engage in special projects, including potential acquisitions or strategic financial initiatives.
• Build and scale the accounting team in alignment with company growth.
• Utilize project management tools to track tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure the accuracy of accounting deliverables. Requirements
• Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
• Demonstrated experience in auditing and establishing budget processes.
• Proficient in executing monthly financial reporting.
• Experience in reconciling bank statements.
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures.
• Proven track record in preparing annual financial reporting.
• Ability to generate ad hoc reports as needed.
• Expertise in budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Experience in planning and executing acquisitions strategy.
