Description
Robert Half is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented senior accountant to join our team on a contract basis, supporting one of our undisclosed manufacturing or construction clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with a strong background in cost accounting, job costing, and financial reporting within the manufacturing or construction industries. Key Responsibilities
Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
Manage month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Maintain and analyze job cost accounting and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to ensure project profitability and accurate cost tracking.
Perform cost analysis on materials, labor, and overhead to improve financial efficiency.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide insights for management decision-making.
Reconcile inventory, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules, ensuring proper cost allocation.
Prepare and review accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions, ensuring timely processing and vendor compliance.
Support audit preparation, including financial documentation and compliance reporting.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales and use tax for manufacturing or construction-related transactions.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the manufacturing or construction industry.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
Experience with industry-specific ERP and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage 300, Viewpoint, SAP, or NetSuite).
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, engineers, and operations teams.
