GENERAL DESCRIPTION

"O" level and "I" level maintenance with required skill sets, to plan, develop, manage and execute the efforts required to meet the work schedule and support the Squadron Maintenance Department by performing full functional testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting on T-64-GE-416/416/A/419 turbo shaft jet engines and T62T-27 auxiliary power units IAW applicable MIMs.

DUTIES

  • Perform test cell maintenance and repair;
  • Gas Turbine Engine Test System (GTETS) qualification;
  • Utilize experience in performing duties as the work center 450 Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or equivalent Aviation Engine Test Facility experience;
  • Complete Quality Assurance Inspector qualification provided by MALS-16 Quality Assurance;
  • Utilize experience working with the Naval Supply System and following aviation supply procedures;
  • Utilize familiarity with all MIMs associated with the testing and troubleshoot of turbo shaft engines; and
  • Utilize familiarity with all related MIMs, orders, and instructions that test facilities must follow.
  • Analyze problems such as fuel fluctuation, compressor instability or excessive vibration and take remedial action, disassembling to the extent necessary to make needed corrections.
  • Perform installation, operation, and repair of gas turbine aircraft engines and accessory systems, using a thorough knowledge of engine repair practices.
  • Utilize skills in the interpretation and use of technical orders, specifications, manufacturers' catalogs, maintenance bulletins, conversion tables, graphs, blueprints and various technical manuals.
  • Observe instrument readings, make tentative diagnosis, and disassemble the engine or accessory system to locate the defect, and determine the cause and extent of repair work required.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • AandP license not required but a plus
  • Minimum 6 years of Aircraft Mechanic experience
  • Prefer experience from military fixed wing community or civilian heavy structure background
  • Experience in heavy structure U.S. Military or related FAA or civil aviation
  • Must have Military installation O, I, or Depot level maintenance experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.

  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales with or without corrective lens.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color, shades of color and judge three-dimensional depth.
