$140,350.00 - $210,525.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Manages all activity related to reporting endowment investment balances (the University's largest asset). Works closely with the internal investment office leadership and staff, the University's budget and financial reporting offices as well as external consultants, custodians, auditors and investment advisory firms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Process management:

  • Manages and coordinates various departments at the custodian bank including, but not limited to: Accounting, Performance, Planned Giving Services, Brokerage, Audit, and Technology. Works diligently with the client team, which includes relationship manager, client executive, performance consultant, and other members of the organization.

  • Executes the performance reporting process for the consolidated investments of the University’s Long Term Investment Pool (“LTIP”).

  • Manages monthly reconciliation of custodian bank statements to investment manager statements by auditing for accuracy, timeliness and compliance. Identifies discrepancies and takes appropriate corrective action.

  • Conducts reconciliation analysis of cash movements between investment managers, custodians and the University, identifying, researching and resolving all discrepancies.

  • Processes distribution and capital call notices for investment partnerships by communicating notices to the partnerships, following-up on applicable action items and identifying process improvement opportunities where available.

Systems management:

  • Manages portfolio analytics, risk, and aggregation system(s) to provide accurate and timely accounting, performance, and liquidity reporting. Works with the client service teams to maintain the overall relationship and to ensure data is accurate.

  • Conducts on-site due diligence visits with vendors. Attend conferences to collaborate with industry experts and peer groups in developing and implementing best practices in investment administration and operational risk management. Maintains relationships with peers and reports findings/discussions to the investment team.

  • Compiles, reviews, and provides monthly data to outside service providers.

  • Assists in contract negotiations with investment operation vendors.

Reporting/Analysis:

  • Accurately prepares reports for leadership review on LTIP, exercising thorough knowledge of policies, practices and procedures for asset allocation, individual and aggregate portfolio performance and current portfolio risk exposure measured against stated acceptable levels.

  • Reviews, reports and maintains supplemental performance measures for alternative investments.

  • Reviews and distributes reports prepared by the custodians, following-up when inquiries dictate.

  • Prepares investment reports for the Investment Committee, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders.

  • Assists the investment team in operational due diligence of prospective fund managers. • Assists in compiling applicable data for submission and inclusion into market surveys to be used in future analysis.

Auditing:

  • Audits for accuracy investment managers’ transactions, prices, fees, including management fees. Follow-up on discrepancies.

  • Assists with the annual external audit by making available current and historical investment reports and other applicable financial data as required.

  • Prepares U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles compliant reports, such as ASC 820 Fair Value Measurements or Disclosures financial statement disclosures for investments, providing a single framework for measuring fair value and required disclosures about fair value measurement.

  • Keeps abreast of University investment guidelines and assists leadership in ensuring adherence to those guidelines.

Other:

  • Maintains optimal office efficiency by cross-training job duties with the Manager of Investment Operations and Investment Analysts.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5 years experience in endowment administration or operations, or a related field required

  • Master's degree MBA preferred

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire preferred
