Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

A turbo machinery manufacturer in NW Houston has an immediate need for a Quality Lead to join their team. The purpose of this role is ensuring adequate quality of all products, including purchased products through the review of customer specifications during and after the quote stage, the development and maintenance of component plans, quality plans, procedures and specifications, performance of internal and supplier audits, and the investigation and correction of causes for nonconformance.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications, providing comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing related items.

  • Collaborate with involved parties to revise requirements to match product quality needs-based capabilities and practices.

  • Audit supplier operations against established requirements and standards, obtaining corrective actions for deficiencies noted.

  • Analyze supplier non-conformances and equipment failures for system-related root causes and identify required corrective actions.

  • Lead supplier quality system audits as assigned.

  • Meet with Supplier Management personnel to resolve significant quality issues.

  • Develop and implement quality plans for complex products, particularly non-standard products involving significant engineering.

  • Plan, write, and issue procedures to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, API, and QMS Procedures/Component Plans.

  • Evaluate purchase orders to determine final Quality Assurance requirements.

  • Review and approve all new and/or revised process specifications for quality-related requirements.

  • Recommend drawing and process changes to improve quality and reduce costs.

  • Prepare technical reports regarding procedures and problems.

Essential Skills

  • 5 years of manufacturing QA/QC experience

  • 5-10 years of experience with rotating turbo machinery (turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment)

  • Experience with tight tolerance inspections

  • Experience in core quality methods such as Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, 5Why, Ishikawa Diagram, and Value Stream Mapping

  • Certified auditor in ISO Standards (ISO 9001)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with calipers and micrometers

  • Visual inspection expertise

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
