SUMMARY:
At the clinical direction of a Radiologist and the administrative direction of the Imaging Services Manager, perform MRI procedures with minimum supervision. Maintain equipment and supplies.
MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology or MRI program.
Certification required:
- ARRT - American Registry Radiologic Technologist certificate required; RT (R)
or
- ARMRIT - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Technology
- Current BLS certification.
Certification preferred:
- MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging certification RT(R)(MR) or obtained within the first 6 months of hire.
Licensure required:
- NV State radiology license if working in any other modality with ionizing radiation (DX, CT, IR, M).
Minimum Work Experience:
- Minimum of two years experience on high field magnet.
- Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Obtain consent for contrast injection and allergy history from patients as necessary.
- Review all pertinent information with patient.
- Perform MRI procedures.
- Review medical record for patient history and pertinent information.
- Review requisition with physician.
- Transfer patient to exam room; explain procedure and position according to protocol.
- Administer contrast material, according to physician's request.
- Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reaction.
- Select proper technique/protocol to obtain optimal data.
- Perform scan.
- Review exam data for overall quality and perform all post processing,
- Film, archive and send images to remote locations utilizing hospital network.
- Be able to recognize and alert Radiologist to unexpected findings.
Equipment
- Perform daily calibration and QA checks on equipment.
- Clean and perform minor maintenance procedures.
- Notify service and I.S. Mgr. of system problems.
- Maintain injectors and monitors.
- Order and maintain supplies.
Safety
- Instruct all hospital staff on safety around high field-strength magnet.
