Certification is required for individuals who contract to provide health and safety services for asbestos-related work (projects involving more than 100 square feet of asbestos-containing construction material). Fees: 1) Asbestos consultants: $500 application and examination fee; $325 annual renewal. 2) Asbestos site surveillance technicians: $400 application and examination fee; $270 annual renewal fee. Examination Frequency: Monthly Exam Locations: Sacramento, Los Angeles Experience Requirement: Compliance with Title 8, California Code of Regulations, Sections 341.15 and 1529. Average Time to Process Application: 45 days. Renewal Period: Annually. Special License Requirements: In addition to the experience and education requirements listed above, applicants must provide passport type photos to be used in preparing a photo identification card and certificates showing completion of the following EPA AHERA courses: Asbestos Consultant: Management Planner, Project Designer, Contractor/Supervisor, Building Inspector; Site Surveillance Technician: Building Inspector, Contractor/Supervisor.
