Plumbers must be licensed by the state of Idaho. There are three certificates of competency available to plumbers in Idaho: apprentice registration, journeyman license, and contractor’s license. Plumbing Contractor applicants must: 1.) Hold an active Idaho State plumbing journeyman certificate; 2.) Document two and a half (2.5) years of experience as a licensed journeyman in Idaho; 3.) Pass an exam. Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Appliance, Water Pump, and Mobile Home plumbing. Term: Licenses are valid for three years before renewal
