GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Provides cutting, trimming, polishing, coloring, cleansing, applying artificial nails, or massaging, cleaning, treating, or beautifying the hands and feet. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must have completed tenth (10th) grade plus six hundred (600) classroom hours in an approved school of cosmetology. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Examinations in September through June with dates set by the regulatory agency. Examination is both written and practical. Must score a minimum of seventy percent (70%) in each area. School must submit certification hours. Examination fee is $25.00. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Applicant must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Must be of good moral character and temperate habit. All licenses renewed annually by July 31. Initial license fee is $12.00 and renewal fee is $10.00. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Nail technicians shall provide proof of six (6) hours of continuing education for renewal of license.
