In Oregon, Dental Assistants are not licensed but must be certified in order to take x-rays or to perform certain Expanded Functions. There are four (4) types of Dental Assistant certification offered: General Orthodontic Radiologic Proficiency Dental Anesthesia Assistant "Dental Assistant" means a person who, under the supervision of a dentist, renders assistance to a dentist, dental hygienist, dental technician or another dental assistant.
