WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR GRADE <br><br>Person who is qualified to control the manipulation of equipment and thereby determine the quality of the effluent from a wastewater treatment plant that is classified as Grade I. <br><br>PROSPECTIVE: <br>Certification is required for persons in direct charge of wastewater treatment plants of Grade I. <br><br>REQUIREMENTS: <br>An applicant must have a high school education or equivalent, must have twelve months of operating experience in a Grade I wastewater treatment plant (or twelve months in a biological /natural wastewater plant and six months in a Grade I wastewater plant) and must complete examination requirements. A maximum of three months of college classwork or related training can be substituted for the same amount of experience. <br><br>CONTINUING EDUCATION: <br>Within each 3-year period each certified operator must satisfactorily complete a conference, training course, or school approved by the Board. <br><br>EXAMINATIONS: <br>Examination is written (except accommodations made for disability). It may contain matching, multiple choice, true-false, discussion, and short answer questions and may contain problems. 70% is required to pass.
